Corporate Coating Technical Engineer
The Corporate Coating Technical Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of paint estimating, including processing quotes, tracking and maintaining details, communicating changes, and ensuring accurate information flow across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Log, track, and maintain all RFQs in the quote tracking system, ensuring files are current and complete.
- Review RFQs for accuracy and completeness, flagging inconsistencies and supporting clarification with Estimators and Program Management.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal plants to collect cost data for paint materials, processes, and racking.
- Collaborate with Paint Design, Estimating, and Applications teams to validate part orientation, nesting, rack design, and process feasibility.
- Prepare and issue paint and rack quotes for RFQs, engineering changes, and customer requests.
- Present quotes for review and approval with senior leadership, ensuring timely submission to Estimators or Program Management.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of current and past quotes, including pricing, changes, and job history.
- Support pricing analyses and VAVE studies, including piece price, material usage, transfer efficiency, and process improvements.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline quoting and enhance accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF standards, company policies, and safety requirements while supporting audits as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- College or University diploma/degree in an Engineering-related field.
- Experience with estimating and quoting processes (preferred).
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer requirements.
- Proven project management skills with proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Background in paint and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as KeyCreator, Spinfire Viewer, 3DExperience, or similar.
