Process and Controls Engineer
The Process and Controls Engineer is responsible for the monitoring and controlling of the paint systems, including but not limited to, system balance, PLC controls, system ovens, robot hardware/software and spare part availability, to achieve the most effective, efficient, and consistent methods to manufacture products to the highest standard, while minimizing the impact of downtime and reducing cost
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide guidance and training for Robot Attendants/Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting robot related issues.
- Promote a teamwork environment utilizing root cause analysis, troubleshooting, permanent countermeasures, and lessons learnt to continually improve.
- Lead team in tracking and analyzing downtime trends to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
- Be a leading participant in cost reduction initiatives, VCP's, and projects to reduce environmental impact. Document aspects of R&D for claiming purposes.
- Responsible for overseeing PLC system and troubleshooting concerns.
- Responsible for overall process control of the paint systems, including monitoring, collecting, and trending data points.
- Monitor and troubleshoot robots, to include fluid delivery equipment for process consistency, repeatability, and product quality output.
- Collaborate with other departments, facilities, and counterparts on troubleshooting, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities, relating to process control and PLC.
- Working with other facilities and suppliers, maintain a critical spare parts inventory to ensure components are readily available for key equipment. Identify and communicate to management, concerns with part availability.
- Participate in design, commission, and installation of plant equipment.
- Ability to read and write operation manuals for robotic and automated production equipment.
- Oversee plant layouts and implementation of new Assembly cells and Continuous Improvement Initiatives
- Analyze and control spare parts inventory initiate appropriate activities to improve.
- Repair and maintain all production computer systems
- Assisting other maintenance personnel when necessary
- Ability to read electrical and electronic drawings
- Ability to read and troubleshoot PLC programs
- Lead dirt reduction team and oversee the control of system balance.
- Work in compliance with the Quality and Business Operating Systems and all Health and Safety and Environmental legislation
- Ensure personal and associate awareness and understanding of ISO 14001 and ISOfTS 16949 (includes ISO 9001) Standards, and company policies and procedure.
- During management system audit events provide evidence in support of conformance with applicable standards and procedures, and participate in corrective action activities as necessary
- Always promote an atmosphere of teamwork
- Ensure that a clean and safe work environment is always maintained
MINIMUM EDUCATION/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a post-secondary degree or have equivalent experience in associated area
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years process / controls related experience in a Manufacturing Facility or equivalent
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge in the areas of PLC programming, electrical, mechanical and hydraulics
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read electrical and electronic drawings
- Ability to read and troubleshoot PLC programs
- Must be flexible and able to work in a team environment
- Meets expectation rating through PDP Process.
- Have the ability to be trained for the above-mentioned responsibilities
