Plasman's Windsor Tooling is currently seeking a new member to join our Design team as a:
DESIGNER
The Designer is responsible for customer assistance in various areas of design and design support required for new and current products at Plasman's Windsor Tooling facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Review designs with Engineering Supervisor and Program Manager (PM).
Review Engineering Changes with Engineer Supervisor and PM. (Line up welding, CNC, toolmaker, Boring Mill and EDM Depts.)
Determine parting line, locks, and mechanisms required. (i.e.: slides, lifters, core pulls, etc.)
Create preliminary design and meet with Engineering Supervisor, PM and customer for approval.
Create semi-final design and meet with Engineering Supervisor, PM and customer for approval.
Create final drawings and meet with Engineering Supervisor, PM and customer for approval.
Incorporate Part concessions into surface or solid part data for changes requested by Windsor Tooling for better tooling conditions.
Maintaining ISO documentation.
Translate and issue files to appropriate departments.
Review and understand customer standards.
Review mold flow, cooling and warp analysis.
Tooling feasibilities (red pen), for new designs and Engineering Changes.
Have an understanding of areas of part concerns (i.e.: windage, cooling issues, wall stock, rib read thru, texturing etc.).
Review and understand part prints and knowledge of GD & T.
Any other duties
Qualifications, Skills and Experience We're Looking For:
Experience in Catia V4 & V5 is preferred, as well as using Cadkey & XMD.
3 years of experience in tool & mold design.
Post secondary degree or diploma in Design, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions and present to stakeholders.
Detail-oriented approach with a strong aesthetic sense and appreciation for usability.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
